Time to review your Will?

A free of charge service from Assurewills

Once you have had your Will written, it is vital you ensure it continues to be relevant to your needs by reviewing it on a regular basis - we would recommend every 2-3 years, or when a significant event occurs such as the birth of a child, marriage, divorce etc.

Changes in legislation since your Will was drafted should also be taken into consideration when a review is carried out - in the past few years we have seen changes to Inheritance Tax rules which should be considered in relation to your current assets, and Social Service departments using their powers far more widely to force the sale of property to fund long term care, which can be addressed in a well drafted Will. Issues such as these may not have been considered when your Will was originally drafted, but now form a major part of estate planning when a Will is produced. Our suggestion would be that if your Will is more than 5 years old it may well be outdated, and should at least be reviewed to ensure it still meets your needs.

At Assurewills we are happy to undertake a free of charge review of your existing Will(s), and discuss any areas of estate planning which you may wish to consider - just contact us using the form below to arrange a no obligation discussion.

Our Free Review Service:

What we offer is a review of your Will, comparing your existing Will instruction with your current family and financial circumstances. We will produce a summary for you, setting out any recommendations. Whether or not you then elect to follow our recommendations is entirely your decision.

We would strongly suggest that a review is considered under any of the following circumstances:

a. Your Will was written more than 5 years ago.

b. Prior to a marriage, civil partnership or divorce.

c. Following the birth of a child / grandchild.

d. At the time of or approaching retirement.

e. If there has been any significant change to your financial situation.

It will cost nothing to have a review of your existing Will - our comments / recommendations may prove to be of real value to you and your family.
